About Brian

Committed to Educational Excellence
We are proud parents of two recent Moscow school graduates. We have tremendous respect and gratitude for the remarkable teachers and staff that have been committed to their growth and the success of all students. I have served on the School Board for 7 years and Vice Chair for the past 2 years. I serve because of the pride and respect that I have for the tremendous work that gets done in our schools.
I'm running because I believe public education is essential to the strength and character of our community. “Public, free common schools” are embodied in the Idaho Constitution as essential to the “stability of a republican form of government.” If you feel the same, I hope you consider voting for me on November 4th.
Values & Vision
I am continually increasing the understanding of the educational needs of our community. I listen, collaborate, and advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being of all students.
We have a lot to accomplish to strengthen our District’s future. We face the significant challenges including:
-
Aging facilities and buildings that require creative solutions
-
Student learning outcomes that require thoughtful and forward-looking attention to curriculum
-
Physical safety, mental health and digital awareness of our students are an ever-present opportunity for positive growth.
Experience, sincere cooperation and dedication are essential to continuing on the productive path that we travel as a District and I want to contribute. It is important for Trustees to be unequivocal champions of public education. I feel strongly that representatives on the school board should be invested and experienced in the policies and priorities of the school district.
Here are a few of my priorities:

Growth for Our Schools
I am mindful of financial challenges for public education while also envisioning new facilities for student futures. We have aging infrastructure with buildings that all exceed 60 years old. At some point, our facilities impede learning objectives and become a financial liability. We must look for ways to grow our district in all ways, and that includes new buildings.
Academic success
I am committed to academic programs and curricula that continues to bear fruit for academic success. We received compliments on our 2025 accreditation review with noted strengths in “supporting learners’ interests” and “develop[ing] a love for learning” to “improve student outcomes”. In statewide achievement tests (ISATs) we were among the highest achieving traditional school districts. We can celebrate successes, but must always be looking for where improvements can be made.

Student safety and mental health
Our schools need to be places of safety and security for students and to stay ahead, we need board leadership committed to assisting with these efforts. Additionally, our students should understand that their mental health and digital literacy is vital and that teachers, staff and board members prioritize this.
Communication and engaging the Community
Our board needs to be an essential part of the District's communication plan and effectively convey success and challenges to the community. I am committed to continuing and growing these relationships. I would encourage all constituents to come to school board meetings and express their concerns and frustrations as well as those things they find special about the school district.
